Achieving Powerful Results Through Hypnosis

Achieving Powerful Results Through Hypnosis – Helping Postpartum Depression:A new mother’s body experiences volcanic emotional shifts as she changes from pregnancy to holding her new born baby in her arms.Sometimes, she feels sad. ‘Down. ‘Blue.’ The baby blues as it’s called. This is hardly surprising. As I’ve said, the changes in the new mother’s body are enough to throw anyone off balance. Hopefully, though, this will only last for a few days.

Yes, some tears perhaps, maybe a bit of fearfulness that you’re going to have to begin a whole new way of life. But these feelings should pass. There’s a chance, though, that they won’t. That they’ll worsen and if that continues for more than two weeks, professional help should be sought. Powerful results may be achieved through hypnosis, as we’ll see shortly.

It could be that you’re headed for full-blown postpartum depression. One problem is that it’s so often overlooked, and this is why it’s absolutely vital that you tell someone about how you feel. Remember that if you have an external injury, your doctor can see it. But he can’t look into your mind.

Your obstetrician will probably only see you once postpartum, usually for a six week check-up, and your family doctor or pediatrician will only see you once during the first few weeks and then every two months thereafter, so unless either of these health professionals know that something’s wrong, to put it bluntly, you’re on your own.

Now if you find yourself coping normally, especially if you have a nice, supportive spouse, then that’s fine. But it’s so necessary to tell your doctor if you do still feel depressed after two weeks. If the tears are still flowing and life seems simply too much to bear.

Unfortunately, depression isn’t something that just goes away after a few weeks. Once it latches on to you, its grip is almost impossible to break without professional help.Is hypnosis an option? Yes, and a very good one, unless you’re one or two of the thousand unfortunate women who contract postpartum psychosis.

This is a five alarm condition and requires immediate hospitalization and treatment. The causes of depression are unknown. You may consider that you have a diminished sense of importance, when of course just the opposite is true. Your own childhood may have been difficult, and the negative feelings associated with that may suddenly surface.

You will find difficulty sleeping and not just because of baby’s needs. So sleep deprivation will lead to exhaustion and exacerbate your condition.

Remember, too, that the whole family will suffer your depression. They’ll tip-toe around you, not knowing what to do or how to help.

Provided your condition isn’t psychotic, and indeed psychotics shouldn’t be hypnotized in any case, and as I mentioned only one or two women in a thousand are thus targeted, then this could well be something treatable at home, or more accurately, without being taken to hospitable.

Don’t be frightened of hypnosis. Both the American Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association have recognized this as a valid treatment for many years now. Go to your doctor and talk about the possibilities of finding a first class hypnotherapist who specializes in your condition.

Do try to keep drugs out of your system if possible, especially if you’re a nursing mother. It’s eminently possible that one, or perhaps two, sessions with a really good hypnotherapist will be all that’s required. But this professional must specialize in your condition.

To coin the old saying, with hypnotherapy, it’s horses for courses.
